Campin' & Fishin'

B went on a 3 day scout canoe/camp trip. Eeeps! It was his first "overnight" campout without mom or dad. It was hard for me but he loved every moment of it. He had fun sleeping outside and cooking over a campfire, swamping the canoe and pulling it back to shore. He came home blurry-eyed and pooped, but had a great time!
Bill took Z and S fishing on Saturday and they also had a great time! They each caught some. Z caught the most fish and ended up with a couple small-mouth bass. S caught the biggest fish and ended up with a large-mouth bass. Bill was busy running back and forth baiting hooks, "swimming" after rods and helping reel in. Here are a few pics to enjoy!

My kids are amazing!

Okay, I have to have a proud mamma moment:
Yesterday was the last day of school for the kidlets. S came home with an honorary lunch and recognition from the principal for having so many "Waitsburg Winners" (certificates given to the kids for good behavior and academics) and a fantastic report card. Z came home with an exemplary report card and a "National" award for fitness "even signed by the President of the United States"!!! :o) And B came home with a framed certificate for "Excellence in Math". We haven't seen his report card yet, but I fully expect it to be great. I'm so blessed to have such amazing children!!! They are so respectful of others and truly are great students and friends. I'm so proud of them!!
Okay, now I'm done!
:o)

MY 10K

Well, I survived it; I survived my first (and, er, only?) 10K. It was awesome! So what if I was sucking wind a mile into it, so what if I had to walk 3 times, so what if my dear, sweet, amazing sister ran a circle around me while singing "Uptown Girl" and Rockette high-kicking. . . .I finished it and Yes, I accomplished what I wanted to do!!! For those of you metrically-challenged (as myself) a 10K is appx. 6.4 miles. Yup, not a marathon or anything, but 6.4 miles of hellish but forward momentum. It was tough for me, but again such an accomplishment for me that I am proud as . . . . whatever is very proud.
My sis, Donna, was awesome. She kept me going and chattered the entire way. "Isn't it beautiful out here? Don't you love the sound of that creek? Up this hill, Laura, this is the hardest part and we are almost there. Oh, I love this song, listen to this song, here share my earbuds. Wow, that was the turn around, how cool, we are halfway there. That guy, that one on the bike, he looked like he was focused. We thought about buying a house out here. My friends are buying a house in Boise, . . . . .chatter, chatter, yadda, yadda". Gaah, the girl saved my life during the run. I was so busy listening to her twitter on that I forgot to be tired (okay, not literally, but it surely helped me)! I love her so much!! She is AMAZING!!
As their new house is right by the run our boys, her 4 and my 3, ran out on a big bend in the road and they had made signs with "Go Moms, Go" and "You rock", and big hearts and encouraging words. They handed us bottles of propel and encouraged us. It was so great my heart nearly burst. Oh, I wish I had a picture of them all there cheering us on. I wanted to drop to my knees and thank my good Father in Heaven for sending such special and choice spirits to us. What a great experience!

Dinner with the girls!

A HUGE thanks to Chy and Amy for a great girls night out dinner on Friday. We went to The Weinhard Cafe in Dayton and had a wonderful meal. I ate a salad (house salad with rasp. vinaigrette & bleu cheese crumbles), main course (grilled salmon, potatoes au gratin and asparagus) AND dessert (lemon cheesecake with raspberry sauce). It was divine!! The best part was just sitting and chatting with girls. We talked about jewelry, periods, diets, coupons, shopping, etc. . . . definitely things that aren't discussed in my house. :o) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my boys, but sometimes I get testosterone overwhelmed and need an estrogen recharge.

Thanks Chy for giving me a boost and great meeting you Amy. I'm sure we will be great friends! So funny you know my cousins too!! :o)
